Dilansir laman The Hacker News, Minggu (14/6/2015), hacker yang bertanggung jawab atas serangan ini mengaku mendapatkan akses database dari seseorang dengan kode nama "Ebolabad", yang mengklaim dirinya sebagai orang dalam Office of Personal Management (OPM), alias Kantor Personalia Pegawai Pemerintah AS.
Entah benar atau tidak, yang pasti hacker telah berhasil menghapus 9 ribu alamat email pegawai pemerintah (.gov) dan 12 ribu alamat email anggota militer (.mil) AS.
Sebelumnya, AS mendapat serangan dari Syrian Electronic Army dan kelompok hacker yang diduga membekingi Pemerintah China.
AS bahkan telah menyatakan `darurat` cyber setelah Syrian Electronic Army berhasil membuat down situs resmi Angkatan Darat AS dan kelompok hacker yang terafiliasi dengan Pemerintah China yang menggondol 4 juta data pegawai Pemerintahan AS.
